BlogSWOT 13 – An Englishman Abroad

 an-englishman-abroad

The next blog, AnEnglishmanAbroad

is a travel/photo/adventure blog. The SWOT is below:

S:

- great pictures

- great stories you have to tell!

- you are consequently personal which makes your stories honest and trusthworty

- congratulations with your followers: never saw so many on any other non-professional blog!

W:

- design is a crap. Absolute rubbish. I cannot believe you have so fantastic stories and pictures and you present them in this way. Oughhh! My concrete points as far as design is concerned are: no margin at all:

text and pictures are almost running away from the screen

no proper header – and the one you have you begin with a loooooong stripe (is it with purpose?) which looks very weird

the ‘about me’ section as well as the translator are almost invisibly placed at the VERY end of your long cover page. I guess noone can ever reach so deep. The about section should be at the VERY first place in your case (that is my personal view).

O:

- your design should be your biggest concern at the moment – try to implement a template which keeps the text more ‘focused’ in the middle of the page. You should also concentrate on ’selling’ your fantastic pictures better (rotating gallery….???)

- I think you do right thing by focusing on Stumble Upon – I can imagine that it makes your blog popular. But you may also try twitter or other social sites.

T:

- there are MANY travel sites. Your strong side is that you’re an Englishman and that is why: a) you do not have any problems with the language at the site and b)there are maybe not too many writing Englishmen Abroad (LOL!). Keep yourself in your own niche, so you will increase your chances to be recognizable.

All the best from me and happy blogging!
